Dokumentalist Helga Merits sai Balti Ühtsuse medali
Tallinnas kogunesid 10. novembril Balti Assamblee 36. ja Balti Nõukogu 23. istungjärgule Balti riikide parlamentide esindajad, spiikrid ja välisministrid.
Balti Assamblee loodi 1991. aastal ning selle eesmärgiks on edendada Balti parlamentide tegevust ja koostööd. Seekord olid arutelud piiriülese hariduse, tervishoiu, julgeoleku ja Euroopa Liidu välispiiride kindlustamise küsimustes.
Seekordsel istungil anti üle Balti Ühtsuse medalid inimestele, kes on kaasa aidanud Balti koostöö ja ühtsuse tugevdamisele oma kodumaal ja Balti riikide vahel. Teiste hulgas sai medali dokumentaalfilmi „Balti Ülikooli lugu“ režissöör, ajakirjanik Helga Merits Hollandist. Medali andis üle Balti Assamblee president Aadu Must.

Veel said medalid XII ja XV Baltimaade üliõpilaste laulu- ja tantsupeo Gaudeamus kunstiline juht ja peadirigent Alo Ritsing ning Balti metsanduskoolide kutsealavõistluste korraldaja, Luua Metsanduskooli direktor Haana Zuba-Reinsalu.
Helga Meritsal on praegu käsil neljas dokumentaalfilm pagulaste teemal. Seekord tuleb juttu Geislingeni laagrist. Film on lõpetamata, sest rahastuse leidmine sellele on onlud keeruline.
