Rectors of Estonia’s Universities of Applied Sciences Met with the Toronto Estonian Community

October 24, 2025

In early October, a sizeable delegation of leaders from Estonia’s universities of applied sciences visited Canada. In addition to professional meetings with Canadian colleagues, they met with members of the Toronto Estonian community on October 8th at VEMU Estonian Museum Canada. All interested participants were welcome—both those considering studying in Estonia and community members wishing to stay informed about developments back home.

Speakers included Ulla Preeden, Rector of Tartu Health Care College and Vice-President of EURASHE (“Creators of the Future – the Story of Applied Higher Education”); Kuno Tammearu, Rector of the Estonian Academy of Security Sciences (“Security and Safety Begin with Knowledge”); and Kalmar Kurs, Advisor for the Study in Estonia programme at the Education and Youth Board (“Estonian Higher Education – National and International”). The presentations were followed by lively discussion.

The event was organized in cooperation with the Estonian Rectors’ Conference of Universities of Applied Sciences.
