Estonian Diaspora Cultural Heritage Archival Projects

Within the Estonian Diaspora Action Plan (2022-2025), the National Archives is organizing a competition of which the goal is to encourage the collection, preservation, user accessibility, and research of diaspora Estonian material and non-material cultural heritage. This includes both oral and material heritage, such as folk poetry, memoirs and recollections, musical traditions, documents, photos, audio-visual documents, printed matter, artworks, etc.

Grant applications can be entered into the competition for projects that focus on the preservation, collection and/or accessibility of cultural heritage, and for which the results can be freely used in public, non-commercial ways (among other things, these results are included under the free-use of copyright rules when handed over to the memory institution).

Both global corporate entities (including private and public legal individuals) and physical entities (individuals) can apply for the grant.

The competition is funded by the Ministry of Education and Research from the state budget.
