The Centre for Estonian Literature Abroad in the Tallinn Univerity Academic Library has the most complete collection of Estonian diaspora literature in Estonia. It contains 31 500 titles, including 5200 books published by Estonians abroad and more than 500 periodicals.
The centre has compiled several important databases available on the web. The biographical database of expatriate Estonians VEPER contains the biographical data of more than 1000 persons. The database VEART helps to find articles published in the expatriate press. The database VEILU contains the fiction of expatriate Estonian authors written in or translated into foreign languages. All the above-mentioned databases are also available on the home page of the Tallinn University Academic Library (http://www.tlulib.ee/index.php/en/resources/original-databases), enabling to search information by authors and keywords.
Four digitized expatriate newspapers can be accessed on the web (http://dea.nlib.ee): Välis-Eesti (Exile Estonia, Sweden), Teataja/Eesti Teataja (Gazette/Estonian Gazette, Germany), and Stockholms-Tidningen Eestlastele (Stockholm Newspaper for Estonians). The work on the digitization of newspapers is going on.
The centre is also engaged in research by publishing research papers and publications about the collections.
